William Anderson was a native of Ohio, and the son of John and Mary Anderson who moved to Indiana 16 Aug. 1829. John Anderson and his family spent one winter in Michigan, before settling on Pretty Prairie in LaGrange Co., Indiana, where they died. Both were natives of Pennsylvania.
William Anderson was born 10 April 1815 in Ohio. William was a farmer with land in LaGrange Co. and Steuben Co., Indiana. On 2 June 1843 he married Elizabeth Selby, and had eight children: Eliza, Amos, Jane, Amanda, Rebecca, Albert, Alonzo, and Clara. As of 1882 all were married except Albert and Clara. Mr. Anderson owned almost 600 acres of land occupied by a fine frame house, 2 tenant houses, and 4 barns, all equipped with the latest conveniences. William and his Wife are buried in Eagle Cemetery, LaGrange Co., Indiana.
