Mary Beals Jessup is the daughter of Rev. Thomas Beals and his wife Sarah Antrim Beals. Rev. Thomas Beals is credited with being the first Quaker minister in the State of Ohio and preached to the Indians--having been captured by the Indians and escaped went back to try to convert them. Mary Beals and Thomas Jessup had 10 children named Ruth, Ester, Patience, Joshua,Thomas, Johnathan, Daniel, Timothy, Isaac and Nathan. Mary Beals Jessup and her husband Thomas Jessup were devout Quaker's and would not have been buried in a non denominational cemetery. They were members of Sandcreek Monthly Meeting in Bartholomew County IN. I do not believe that Thomas Jessup is buried in the Driftwood cemetery that was a Baptist Church cemetery. I believe he and Mary are both buried in this Quaker (Friends) cemetery located close to Seymour IN. Carol
