Mr. Peter Keller, of Douglas Street in Port Washington, passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. He was 88 years old. Peter was born on October 8, 1926 in Devils Lake, North Dakota, one of ten children born to Walter and Margaret Tuchscherer Keller. Following his schooling, Peter served proudly in the US Marine Corps during WWII. He later was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base and, on a chance trip to Wisconsin, met Ruth Kroll. The two were united in marriage at St. Mary's in Port Washington on November 29, 1952. Peter and Ruth settled in Port and started their family. Peter was a driver for Stodyk Truck Lines, retiring in 1983 after 31 years on the job. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82, and was a founding member of the Leathernecks Club at the Legion. Peter enjoyed fishing, and most early mornings could be found at his usual spot on the lighthouse pier. He also enjoyed golf, shooting pool, bowling and taking immaculate care of his lawn. Most of all, Peter loved his wife and family. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, and their ten children: Jim (Pamela) Keller of Saukville, Sandra (Don) Cash of Troy, TN, Dennis Keller of West Bend, Dan (Kelley) Keller of Port Washington, Jeffery (April) Keller of Saukville, Linda Turenne of Fredonia, Cathy (Donald) Large of Port Washington, Ronald (Kelly) Keller of Port Washington, Gerald (Mary) Keller, also of Port Washington, and Carol (Dennis) Reilly of Shorewood. He is further survived by 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren (with 3 soon-to-arrive), 3 brothers: his twin brother Roy (Liz) Keller of Belgium, John (Nancy) Keller of Tampa, FL and Mike (Lorraine) Keller of Portland, OR, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Peter is preceded in death by brothers Tony and Walter, and sisters Catherine, Christina, Margaret and Bernadine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Tuesday, March 24th at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Pat Wendt will preside. Military Honors will be rendered after Mass. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 4-6PM.
