William was born on August 25, 1928 in Pickens County, GA son of the late Levi and Willie Mae (Walraven) Cape. William served in the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Navy between 1944 and 1961. On November 25, 1958 William married the former Marge Glaeser in Portsmouth, VA. He was employed at Manitowoc Engineering for many years until his retirement in 1989. William enjoyed woodworking, traveling and camping.
Survivors include his wife: Marge Cape, Manitowoc; three children: Sherry Dixon, Maryland; Michael (Kim) Cape, Louisiana; Barbara Cape, Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren: Curtis; Gina; Shane; Jade; Mandy; Ryan; Jerod; Stephen; Brandon; Laura; many great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law: Evelyn Cape; Georgia; Betty Glaeser, Minnesota, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and four sisters; mother and father-in-law; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Zachary DeArmond will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. Military services will be accorded by the VFW Otto-Oas Post #659 of Manitowoc.
