We rescued our Mary Girl from a neglectful owner. She was only 4 months old when she jumped into the front seat of our car and came to live with us.

She joined our other two dogs, 'Fat Sally (#182959958) & Haus. Together with Haus, she had three litters of pups. 'Junior' was her son from her second litter that stayed here to live with his parents and grandmother. We lost both Fat Sally & Haus on Christmas Eve 2005 which left us only Mary & her son Haus Junior.

Mary Girl had a good life in her backyard with a heated & air conditioned dog house. She loved getting "Cookies" (basted Milk-Bones). She loved to hang out it the front yard with the family and visiting with the neighbors. She loved to fetch sticks but made you work to retrieve them. She was very smart, well trained and the sweetest Momma doggie we have ever owned. We loved to tell her to "Skit Junior" and she would growl and nip at his paws in play, he however failed to see the humor in our little game. She wasn't a barker, only when there was a reason to alert us and she didn't howl when she heard sirens, she yipped. The minute we pulled up in the driveway she was there to greet us... with a bow and a stretch. She was a sweetheart.

Mary grew older and started to get weak... we knew the time had come when she stopped coming to the fence to greet us. We held out as long as we could but finally had to do what was best for her. We all said are goodbyes on September 15, 2014 and went to the vet for the final time.

Junior mourned the loss of his mother terribly. He would not eat, he would wander the yard or lay at the gate and howl (cry) for his Momma. He had never been without her and had never been in the yard alone. We tried and tired to comfort him but nothing worked. Finally... on October 15, we went to our local Animal Shelter and found the cutest little friend for him. We brought "Lovey" home to meet Junior and he was very unsure of her but by the next morning he was happy again.

Mary Girl was buried in her backyard and there is a little white cross placed for her. We loved her very much and had our lives enriched with her in our family. We miss her so very much.
