Brighton: Life-long Rochesterian, on September 9, 2012 at age 94. Gretchen was predeceased by her husband, Elmer. She is survived by daughter, Debra Claire and son, Jack Edward Gmelin; granddaughter, Katherine Tuttle; great-grandsons, Ethan and Ryan of Pittsford.

"Gretty" was a National Honor Society graduate of Monroe High School, 1935 and of Swarthmore College, 1939. She has been a member of Chapter 11 PEO Sisterhood since 1944. After U of R Medical School Whole Body Donation, her cremains will rest in the Memorial Garden of First Presbyterian Church, Pittsford. Donations could go to any of these mentioned organizations. A Memorial Service will be held privately for family and friends at a later time.
