Jesse Sanders, 66 of Bangs died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 23 at Brownwood Community Hospital after a two-week illness. Services were at Bangs First Baptist Church on Saturday, November 27 with the Rev. James Gibson and the Rev. David Bugg officiating. Burial was in the Bangs Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Sanders was born December 21, 1909 in Quay County. New Mexico to James Cleveland and Eddie Lee (Yarbrough) Sanders. He married Bertha Mae Hughes in Austin on January 24, 1932. He was in the grain combining business and was a member of the Bangs First Baptist Church. He had lived in Bangs since 1949.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty (Audie) Cathey of Marana, Arizona; a son, Rodney C. (Lavon) Sanders of Corpus Christi; two brothers, James C. Sanders of Alamogordo, New Mexico and Jack Johnson of Burnet; a sister, Leona (Avis) Greenwood of Hector, AR; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
