"William Benner was born in Augusta, St. Clair County, Missouri, June 23, 1856 and died rather suddenly early Monday morning, April 29, 1918.
He moved to LaBaddie, Franklin county when 12 years old. Thirty-six years ago he moved to this county near Mound City. Six years ago he moved to the late home, where he was living at the time of his death. In 1885 he was united in marriage to Miss Rosa Perkins, who survives. To this union there were born five children, three of whom are living, Mrs. Fred Fane, of Texas, and Russell and George Benner. One sister and two grandchildren survive him. He united with the church at Mound City about five years ago.
The funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1:30 o'clock by Elder Granville Snell. Interment at Mt. Hope cemetery."
