Elwood was born on October 17, 1927, in Bath County, Kentucky, the son of the late Tollie and Thelma (Reed) Donaldson. He married Norma Osborne and they were married 65 years.
Elwood was a Navy veteran and was a machine operator at Dana Corporation for 37 years until his retirement.
Elwood enjoyed woodworking, splitting wood, gardening, cooking and was a "bee keeper". He loved his family and animals.
Survivors include: wife, Norma Donaldson of Marion, Indiana; son, Dan Donaldson of Marion, Indiana; two daughters, Debbie Burns of Dublin, Ohio, and Suzett (Roger) Herbort of Converse, Indiana; brother, Sam Donaldson of Marion, Indiana; two sisters, Patty Stevens of California, and Valerie Thornell of Marion, Indiana; grandchildren, Chad (Denise) Miller, Heather (Parrish) Peachee, Lindsay Osborn, Jenny (Bobby) Hart, Devan (Rob) Lime, Kathy (Donaldson) Culver, Krystal (Donaldson) Riggs, and Kevin (Christian) Donaldson, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, Marion, Indiana with Chaplain Reverend Darrell Smith officiating.
Burial will follow funeral services in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County, Indiana.
