Charles Ulrich Frederic Doll was born in Kogel, in then Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He emigrated with his parents, Joachim and Mary Pulz Doll, in December of 1857. He first married Louisa Mary Frederica Jenss, daughter of Adam and Catherine Pulz Jenss, on March 18, 1866, in Milwaukee County, WI. Ulrich and Louisa had one known child, Maria Friederike Ulrike Doll. Louisa died in 1866 and the child, Maria, died in 1867. Ulrich married Caroline Augustin on March 21, 1867. Four children were born with one girl and two boys dying as infants. Alvina, born in 1867, survived to adulthood. Caroline died May 22, 1873. Ulrich again married, this time to one Johanna "Jane" Koppermann Jentz on October 21, 1873. Their known children include: Herman, Emma Wilhelmine, John Joachim, Augusta, and Helen Matilde.
