Sp4 Michael Peter Alongi Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, Sp4 Alongi served our country until November 1st, 1968 in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was married. It was reported that Alongi died from small arms fire. His body was recovered. Sp4 Alongi is on panel 40W, line 070 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

Sp4 Alongi was killed on patrol November 1st near Boduc, close to the Cambodian border. Before reporting to Vietnam in February, he was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He attended Cooley Vocational High School and was drafted in September, 1967

He is the husband of Mrs Jacqueline Gulledge Alongi of Chicago Il. He is the Son of Mr Michael Peter & Mrs Rose Alongi of Elmwood Park, Il. Brother to Mrs. Mary Ann Dennler, Paul & Vincent Alongi and stepbrother to John Romano

Sp4 Alongi served with B Troop,1st Squad.,4th Cav.,1st Inf. Div. USARV

He was awarded The Purple Heart Medal for his combat wounds, The National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal and The Vietnamese Gallantry Cross Unit Citation.
