Bobby Eugene Hayes, of Scottown, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born in Dayton, Ohio son of the late Myron Berkley and Loma Dailey Hayes.
The family returned to Scottown, where Bobby grew up and attended Windsor schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of both the American Legion 93 Ceredo Kenova and the Proctorville VFW Post 6878.
He retired as senior mechanic with 27 years service from Novamont Corporation. He was also the fiscal officer of Windsor Township for 44 years. He was self-taught and very knowledgeable on many subjects and the "go-to" person in our family. He enjoyed gardening and loved sharing his fruit and vegetables with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Berkley and Geneva Hayes; a brother, Danny Hayes; a sister Doris Hayes; and brothers-in-law, Ona Tagg, Thomas Tredway and James Schriner. He is survived by five sisters, Betty Tagg, of Westerville, Patty Tredway, of Scottown, Peggy Schriner and Jim Shook, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Kay Hayes, of Proctorville and Diana and Ed Wilgus, of Proctorville; two brothers, Tommy Hayes, of Proctorville, and Timmy and Karen Hayes, of Scottown, who lovingly cared for him during his final days; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bobby was a caring and loving brother and a devoted son who will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville with pastor Darrell Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
