OBITUARY:
Paul Adolf Acosta was born to his parents Albert Antonia and Clara Gonzalez Acosta June 1, 1930 in Montebello, California.

Paul and Melba Orndoff were married, June 27, 1953 in Vallejo, California. Paul was in the Air Force. The Orndoff family loved to entertain the Military Personnel because of the Mare Island (Navel Shipyard). After church, they would have them over to their house, and Paul was one the Military Personnel that came to their house.

Paul graduated from Warner Pacific College, Portland, Oregon in 1957. Paul and Melba moved to Anderson, Indiana to Anderson Seminary for Paul's Master’s degree. Paul was youth pastor for a church in Modesto, California and was an associate pastor in Stockton, California. Paul was the Pastoral Minister at Bieber, California for 2-3 years; and pastor of a church in Lamar, Colorado. Paul went to the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. He held two positions while working with International Education at the University. Paul and Melba moved back to San Diego, California to be an Associate Pastor in December, 1979, where Paul worked as Director at the San Diego Rescue Mission. Paul was also Chaplin for a prison facility that held prisoners for court before his retiring.

Paul and Melba provided foster care for abused children and special needs babies, until they moved back to San Diego, where they took care of Paul’s mother and then Melba’s mother until she passed away. Paul was a very kind-hearted, helpful person who loved people and they loved him back. A wonderful husband and father. He will be missed by all who knew him.

After a long struggle with cancer since the early 1980's, Paul passed away at home in his wife’s loving arms on March 8, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Melba W. Orndoff Acosta, and his children, Brenda, Linda, Paul Allen, Marc, Joey, and Alysha; as well as numerous grandchildren.
