Clinton, Harriet Ammons Mitchell, 57, of 4795 N US Hwy 421, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at her home. A funeral will be held at 3 P.M., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at New Bethel Baptist Church at 1165 Mt. Moriah Church Road, Clinton, with the Reverend Terry Cummings and Reverend Mike Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Harriet was born in 1957 in Sampson County to the late William “Mose” Ammons and Dorla Jacobs Ammons (Sissy). She was preceded in death by sisters, Mona Ammons and Valetta Ammons. She was a quality inspector with Butterball Corporation in Mt. Olive, a graduate of Clinton High School and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to her mother, Dorla “Sissy” Ammons, include; son, Trenton Mitchell and wife Puja of Wilmington; daughter, Tenesha “Tweety” Abernethy and husband Bryan of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Taj Mitchell, Divya Mitchell and Priya Mitchell, and an Abernethy grandchild due in June; and a host of relatives and friends.
