Donald J. Kochan, age 85, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
Don was born on September 11, 1929 in Francis Creek to the late John and Rose Delsmann Kochan. He graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 1947. On May 2, 1951, Don married his high school sweetheart Lorraine R. Krcma at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. Don worked at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company for 35 years until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid golfer, amateur radio operator, and enjoyed travelling, camping, and fishing. Don was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include Don's wife of 63 years: Lorraine; four children: Stephen Kochan, Sheboygan; Joseph Kochan, Fond du Lac; Charles Kochan, Oshkosh; and Ginny (George) Mozal, Reisterstown, MD; four grandchildren: Michelle Kochan, Danny Kochan, Angie Kochan, and Justin Mozal; two sisters: Rose Mary Lambert, Manitowoc; and Mary Jane (Ronald) Burish, Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joan Kochan, Kay Krema, Gilbert (Carol) Krcma, Danny Krcma, Rita Krcma, Marge Luckow, Clara Krcma, Lorraine Krcma, and Kathy (Frank) Zeman; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his brother: Ralph; daughter-in-law: Lynne Kochan; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Beaudry with entombment to take place at Calvary Mausoleum.
