Early Life: Phyllis was born September 27, 1922, in McCabe, Montana, to Phillip and Mary Rohrenbach. The family lived on a farm near McCabe, in Roosevelt County, Eastern Montana. Phyllis graduated from high school in Culbertson where she was recognized as valedictorian. She loved sports and liked to say that she could outrun any of the boys.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Phyllis attended Montana State University in Bozeman and graduated with an Associates degree. She married Albert Leslie Browning in 1950, in Reno, Nevada. They resided in both Montana and California. Phyllis took great pride in her work and was a dependable, hard worker. She worked at Matson Navigation before marriage, and as a secretary and civil servant at the FCC for 20 years. Phyllis loved her family and really enjoyed being a mother. She was known to be highly enthusiastic at her children’s sporting events. At the age of 55, she won a Mother/Daughter Golf Tournament with her daughter. She was a devout Catholic, who enjoyed sports, stamp collecting, reading, playing canasta, and was well known for her positive attitude. After retirement, she and her husband resided in Orem, Utah, with her son, James. After her husband’s death, she continued to live with James in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She also resided in Blaine, Washington, with her son Les for two years, and with her daughter, Phyllis Anne, in Omaha, Nebraska, for a year and a half, before returning to Pleasant Grove. Phyllis Mary Rohrenbach Browning died Sunday, March 22, 2015, in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
