US ARMY - WORLD WAR II


Daniel P. Carlock, 92, of West Deer Township, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Braznell, Fayette County, to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Toth) Carlock.


Dan had lived in West Deer for more than 67 years. Dan was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army. He was a member of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, Curtisville. Dan worked as a crane man for Pullman Standard in Lindora for more than 58 years. A member of the Russian Brotherhood Organization, he served at the national level as first vice-president and many other offices and committees in which he was involved for 52 years. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge 725 (East Liberty) Chartiers Valley Lodge, a member of the Shriners, serving as past automobile president, past deputy, past president of the reception committee, ambassador, aide to various potentates, member of the 32nd degree Consistory, Valley of Pittsburgh, tour director for the West Deer Golden Years Club, was very active in his church, life member of the American Legion, West Deer, and the DAV. Dan loved being around and helping people.


Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary (Stecz) Carlock; sons, Daniel M. (Rosanne) Carlock, of Cheswick, and David A. (Donna) Carlock, of Curtisville; grandchildren, Nicole (Adam) Figura, of McCandless, David Carlock, of Curtisville, and Danielle (Mark) Browne, of Hampton; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Adam; and sisters, Irene Smith, of Perryopolis, and Margie Zeglan, of Grindstone. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and John Carlock; and his sisters, Bertha Chislow, Mary Babilya and Vernie Marchin.


The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where the funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, then will continue at St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, Curtisville, with his pastor, the Rev.
