Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock this morning at First Presbyterian Church, San Rafael, for William (Pot) Barr Jr., Marin County Supervisor for 20 years, who died Friday. Burial was in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.

Barr, son of the late Supervisor William Barr Sr., died at a San Rafael hospital as the result of a chronic illness for which he underwent surgery 10 days before. He was 66. The youngest Barr inherited his father's zeal for public service and in 1930 was appointed to fill his father's seat on the Board of Supervisors.

Named to office March 18, 1930, William Barr Jr. filled the unexpired term caused by the death of his father and was elected supervisor without opposition. He had never been defeated in office though opposed 3 times during his 20 years on the board. Barr was running for re-election at the time of his death.

Barr, one of 7 children of William and Amelia Barr, was born in San Rafael. He remained a bachelor and resided at the family residence at 115 I Street. In recent years he was retired. Formerly he entered the vulcanizing business and later opened a service station. Two of his brothers survive him. They are John Barr, in the banking business, affiliated with Wells Fargo; and Robert J. Barr, an Eureka sheep rancher.
