Orval “Curly” Ishmael, 80, of Tower Hill, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Orval was born August 29, 1934, in Fayette County at home in rural Ramsey, the son of Melvin “Dick” and Bernice Sanders Ishmael.
He had lived in the Pana and Rosamond areas, before moving to Florida for 13 ½ years, and then coming back to Pana. He had worked for Mueller Company in Decatur. Orval loved antique tractors and riding them in parades. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is a member of the Bowling Green Lodge #121 in Bowling Green, FL, where he was past Master, and a past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. He was a past member of Pana Masonic Lodge #226, Blue Lodge, York Rite, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Springfield, Christian County Shrine Club, and the Ag Corp.
Orval Ishmael and Audrey Schafer were married on July 30, 1953 in Taylorville, IL.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Ishmael, Tower Hill, IL; daughter, Brenda Dodson & husband Mike, Pana, IL; sons: Steve Ishmael, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Dennis Ishmael & wife Annie, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Michael Dodson, Rock Hill, SC; Daniel Dodson & wife Norma, Rock Hill, SC; Adam Dodson, Rock Hill, SC; Josh Ishmael & wife Jacci, Pana, IL; Julie Goodin & husband Jason, Trenton, IL; and Joni Ishmael & fiancé Colin, Chatham, IL; great grandchildren: Zach, Kaitlyn, Levi, Chelsea, Caleb, Jordynn, Landon, Palmer, Maggie, Lucy, and Andrew; great-great grandchildren: Halli Grace, Ellison, & Brayden. He was preceded by his parents; brothers, Russell Ishmael & Bernie Ishmael; and sisters: Ina Norris, Donna I. West, Evelyn Maryfield, and Betty Ruth Oliver.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
