Doris was born March 19, 1922 to John K. & Bernice Asbury Chandler in Killeen, Texas. She had lived in Colmesneil for the past 37 years. She was employed until age 76 at Tyler County Hospital and the Woodville Nutrition Center after retiring from Sears in Houston. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Doucette. She had a love for life. Some of her interests were gardening, cooking, embroidery, gospel music, fishing, her dolls, reading, gathering with family and church family.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Frances Shaw, David Chandler, James Chandler, John "Bill" Chandler, Katherine Young and Minnie Mainord.
