Sarah was born in Neill's Creek Township, Harnett County, North Carolina, present day known as "Angier". Her Mother's name was Martha and her father was listed as William King. William was NOT her biological father. To this date, that remains a mystery. Neither parent is listed on her death certificate. Family information tell us Martha married a William King or(Keen) in Johnston County, North Carolina. Date of marriage is unknown at this time and we have found no records of siblings, etc. Sarah's birth date differs from her gravestone as 16 April 1883 is the birth date stated on her death certificate.
Sarah Catherine King married Henry Franklin Overby on 8 July 1900. Sarah & Henry had 7 children: Ernest Mack Overby, Sr 1902-1982 (my father), Mary Ethel Overby 1904-1952, Naomi Overby 1907-1967, Mayton Lee Overby 1912-1979 , Burnice Woodrow Overby 1915-1991, Jack Justice Overby 1918-1984 and Edward Overby 1924-1993.
