Fred Hartman, 101, died this morning in Seymour, Missouri at the home of a niece, Mrs. George Zimmerman. He was born January 6, 1873, near Hagerstown, Maryland. For many years he lived in Abilene, Kansas where he worked at the Security Mill and T. A. Darling tire store. He moved to Missouri in 1941. Surviving is a son, Wilmer Hartman, Hot Springs, Arkansas, a brother in California; a sister, Cora Darling, Seymour, Missouri and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services are planned for Monday afternoon at the United Presbyterian Church, Seymour. Burial will be in Seymour. The Bergman-Miller Funeral Home, Seymour, Missouri is in charge of the arrangements.

Fred was born in Hagerstown, Maryland the son of Samuel and Sarah Ann Warfel Hartman. He married Emma Kate Coss on January 1, 1896 in Leitersburg, MD. To that union four children were born George Frederick October 6, 1900 - October 6, 1900; Pearl Emma June 9, 1902 - August 23, 1902; Martha May December 19, 1904 - May 28, 1907; and Wilmer Samuel August 29, 1907 - May 10, 1988. Wilmer was the only child living to adulthood. Emma Kate died February 17, 1918 in Smithsburg, Washington Co., MD after her death Fred moved to Kansas with his young son Bill and for the rest of his life he made his home with family.
