Chalmer R. Becker, 79, of Shady Trailer Park, Poughkeepsie died at Vassar Hospital on Monday, Sept. 27.

Formerly a school bus driver with the Poughkeepsie School System,he was a member of Hendrick Hudson Lodge 875 F&AM of Red Hook, the Poughkeepsie Elks Club and Dads of Foreign Service Veterans of the United States. He was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Red Hook.

He was born in the Town of Milan Dec. 4, 1891, the son of John N. and Jessie (Stall) Becker.

Surviving are his wife, the former Blanche Marion White; tow sons Chalmer William and Robert Vincent Becker; two daughters Mrs. Charlotte Bayer and Mrs. Barbara Day; and fourteen grandchildren all of Red Hook.

Funeral services were held from the Hand Funeral Home, Red Hook, at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, with the Rev. Ferdinand K.W. Haase officiating. Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook. The Hendrick Hudson Lodge held Masonic services Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
