Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, in Roseberry's Funeral Home, Friendship. Interment will be in Mount Repose Cemetery, Friendship.
Esther was born Feb. 8, 1934 in Springville, the daughter of Fred and Josephine (Wozaniak) Johnson. She attended school at Tri County High School, Plainfield, graduating in 1951. Esther moved to Adams County in 1953 and worked as a waitress for the 400 Café.
She married Norman Allen on Sept. 7, 1954 in the Little Brown Church in Iowa. They made their home in Adams and she held various jobs over the years. Her last employment was at Farnam Sealing Products in Necedah. She retired in 1993.
Esther enjoyed her family, her grandchildren, ceramics, gardening, travel, pets and she loved the outdoors, long walks, cooking and family picnics.
She was a member of The Daughters of the Nile, Shriners Ladies and volunteered for many organizations.
Survivors include: her husband, Norman Allen of Adams; sons, Randy (Linda Russell) Allen of Adams, and Don (Chanin Wormet) Allen and John Allen, both of Friendship; daughters, Vicki (Andy) Kolff of Friendship; and Cindy (Tim) Mickelson and Lori (Jeff Finck) Allen, both of Adams; a sister, Virginia Lemay of Wis. Rapids; a brother, Kenneth Johnson, address unknown; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. services on Wednesday, July 11 in Roseberry's Funeral Home, Friendship.
