Daughter of John H. and Emily E. Myers Lee, she was married, lived at 1132 Buffalo St, Franklin, died there of sarcoma of stomach, per death certificate 77261, whose informant was Fred W. Shafer, Franklin. Buried Aug 1921.

Franklin News-Herald, Friday, Aug 5 1921:
Mrs. Fred W. Shafer, one of the best known women of Franklin and a lifelong resident of the city, died at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon at her home, 1132 Buffalo street. She was the daughter of John H. and Elizabeth Myers Lee, born in Franklin March 21, 1868.

She was educated in the Franklin schools, graduated from high school in the class of 1887. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal church and Sunday School, and greatly interested in all the services of the church and, as far as her strength would permit, was faithful in her attendance on all the activities of the church and Sunday school. She was one of those gentle Christian women whose every interest is in her home life and the church. She was a member of the Woman's Club, intensely interested in all its meetings. Up until a few weeks ago, she had missed but few meetings during all the years she had been a member. Never very strong, her health was carefully watched by her family. Last September there were evidences of failing heath when she sojourned at Cambridge Springs, then a rest at the Overbrook Sanitarium near New Wilmington, PA, but at neither place did she receive the desired benefit. During the fall and winter, her condition became such as to cause great anxiety to the family. On March 29th she was taken to the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, where she underwent a major operation for serious stomach trouble. After the operation and her return home, she was nursed back almost to normal strength, when a rapid decline followed. This was particularly noticeable on her visit ti Brooklyn several weeks ago when she was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Arthur E. Hunt. Returning to Franklin, it was realized that her condition was critical, and death ended her suffering at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

She married Fred W. Shaffer March 9, 1896, and he survives, with two sons, Richard L. and F. Donald Shafer, both at home.

Mrs. Hunt arrived late Thursday evening, and a brother, Richard H. Lee of Oil City, who is a traveling salesman for the Hough Manufacturing Co., was reached at Shreveport, LA, It is probable that he will arrive by Sunday.

Services will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment in Franklin cemetery will follow.
