Leona Irene (Gukeisen) Achilles was born August 14, 1919 in Platte, South Dakota. Her parents were Nick and Sophia (Schellenberger) Gukeisen.
She was a short little lady with a lot of spunk! In her later years she lived at Wiley Creek Assisted Living in Sweet Home, Oregon. She LOVED playing bingo which was one of the activities offered to residents. She really enjoyed her outings to the casino, no matter whether she lost or won she always left with a smile. My grandmother was a very positive fun person, always smiling and laughing.
She had 3 children, Gloria Jean (Underwood) Carter, Jerald Dwayne Underwood and Leland Reay Underwood.
