Mentioned in the Surrogate Records of Asa Miles: "the widow and children of Alexander Miles the son of said deceased [Asa Miles] who is now dead, That said son Alexander Miles left him surviving two children whose names are unknown, all of whom reside in Risden St. Clair County, Illinois" . It appears Alexander must have moved from New York to Illinois at some time prior to 1839, and possibly stayed with his uncle, Stephen W. Miles, Sr., before he moved to his own home. In 1839, Alexander Miles purchased land in St. Clair County, Illinois. He listed he was a resident of Monroe County when he made the purchase. Alexander married his cousin, Sarah Clark, in St. Clair County, Illinois. Alexander is said to have died on December 25, 1847, which is the information given on the "Miles Family Tree" composed by Delsie Miles Beatty. No burial record has been located, but it is likely Alexander Miles was buried at either the Jordan's Grove Cemetery or the Eagle/Cliffs Miles Cemetery.
