Peter William Forler was the third son of Balser Forler and Francisca Yeager. He was born in 1859 in Spencer County, Indiana. His first marriage was to Ameline Caroline Metzer on April 17, 1883. This union produced the following children:

Upon Ameline Caroline Metzer Forler's death on March 27, 1896, Peter needed a mother for his large family. Although Catholic, he married a divorced woman named Minnie McCool Marts (McCool is her maiden name) in Warrick County, Indiana, on September 15, 1897. This union produced the following children:

Peter and Minnie continued farming in Knox and Warrick County. They lived in Vincennes during the time of their family's children's births.

In the 1930s, they made the move to Indianapolis, possibly to be near children.

Peter died first, on August 17, 1942, of arteriosclerosis. Burial site is in Holy Cross/St. Joseph's Cemetery, Marion County, IN.

Minnie died on October 2, 1942, of Chronic Myocarditis, while living with her son, Daniel Forler, and his wife, Irene Gross Forler.
