Eddie Dean McPhaul, age 73, of 1412 Boundary Avenue passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 12, 2006 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. McPhaul was born January 16, 1933 in Gibson, North Carolina to the late Rev. Simmuel McPhaul and the late LeeAnna Stubbs McPhaul. After the passing of his mother the family moved to Bennettsville, South Carolina where he attended Marlboro County Training and High School. He also attended Clinton Junior College and Barber-Scotia College where he met Fannie Thomas of Vass, North Carolina. They were married on August 10, 1958. A resident of High Point since 1958 , he was employed at High Point Country Club at Emerywood on April 20, 1958 and during his career served as Maitre'D, Banquet Manager and Food and Beverage Manager, retiring on December 31, 1997.
A person of strong faith in God he attended Community Bible Church where he served as a Deacon, Greeter and was on the Hospitality Committee.
Because of his warm personality, his uplifting and caring attitude, his courage and his wonderful smile, he was dearly loved and will be fondly remembered and missed by many who knew him.
In addition to his wife he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Community Bible Church, 4125 Johnson Street by Rev. Bill Simpson and Rev. Rob Black. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 PM Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive and other times at the residence.
Flower bearers will be Vivica Alford, Obhajiajiemen Emiohe, Charlene Bennett, Kim Nelson, Tammy Emiohe and Fabrice Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons and Elders of the Church. Flower bearers and Honorary Pallbearers are ask to be at the church by 12:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Tyson Alford, Vance Vincent, Demond Johnson, Jemaine York, Bill Brown and Eric Brown. Pallbearers are asked to be at the church by 12:15 PM.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church Street, Ste. 336-M, Charlotte, NC 28202.
