Judge Hobdy G. Rains was a retired Etowah County Judge. He is the son of Will Greene Rains and his first wife, Ola Hamrick Rains. He was the husband of Constance G. Rains.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Forrest Cemetery for Circuit Judge (retired) Hobdy G. RAins, 76, 112 Gwindale Road, who died Monday, April 18, 1988. Dr. Oscar A. Davis and Dr. William Probasco will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge.

Judge Rains was a native of DeKalb County and a resident of Gadsden most of his life. He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and was one of the founding directors of the First City Bank which is now the First Alabama Bank. Judge Rains served as Circuit Judge of Etowah County for 10 years before his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Constance G. Rains; two sisters, Miss Willie G. Rains, Gadsden; Mrs. Martha Nell Rains Stephens, Anniston; brother-in-law, Sharron D. Stephens; uncle, Albert M. Rains, Gadsden; number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John Croyle Big Oak Ranch, Route 9, Box 567, Glencoe, Ala. 35905.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Etowah County Bar Association and all personal friends.

The body will remain at the funeral home through the hour of service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight.
