Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Joy Baptist Church, Joy, TX with Rev. B.D. Wynn, Jr. of Henrietta, TX officiating. Burial will be in the Joy Cemetery, Joy, TX under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta, TX.
Mr. Pope was born October 21, 1922 in Flynn, TX to Claude and Leta (Grimes) Pope. He married Minnie Jo York on December 19, 1942 in Henrietta, TX. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked in the oil field most of his life. He was a former member of and Deacon in the Lake Arrowhead Baptist Church and was a Deacon in the Joy Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Jo Pope in 2008; and son, Harvey Randon (Randy) Pope in 1977.
Survivors include his daughter, Claudia Bates and husband Don of Joy, TX; 2 grandchildren, Randy Bedau and wife Andrea and Mike Bedau and wife Jessica; 2 great-grandsons, Nathan and Ryan Bedau; sister, Estelle Cravey of Normangee, TX.
Visitation will be at the Davis Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Joy Baptist Church, 8786 Old Joy Shannon Rd., Henrietta, TX 76365 or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Inc., P. O. Box 4804, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
