George Wesley Gilmore is the grandfather of my grandmother. She and her brothers lived with their Grandpa George after their father (George Wesley's son George Edward) died of Tuberculosis. George Wesley was the manager of John Wildon Moninger's farm in Amwell Township, and owned a farm of his own. He owned several horses, include one named Prince, which was struck by lightning in a storm. George Wesley never owned a car; he always rode a horse, with or without a buggey in the back. George's brother James A. G. Gilmore was the only person my grandmother remembered owning a car during her childhood.

My grandmother and her brothers were the only grandchildren of George and Della Gilmore. George and Della's other children died without issue. Walter Stark, the middle child, died at the age of 20, while Edith Fern died as an infant. According to family lore, Edith Fern died in her father's arms. After her, the couple did not have any more children. Both George and his wife ended up surviving their other son, George Edward, when he died as a young adult.

Most pictures, and memories of elders depict George with a mustache. He was a very kind man, who cared deeply for his grandchildren.
