Homer L. Ford, 93, of Salem, Big Issac Community, departed this life on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in the United Hospital Center.

He was born on May 18, 1921, at Big Battle, a son of the late Jesse C. and Eska P. Hutson Ford.
Twice married, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna L. McClain Ford, and his second, wife Juanita Bell Ford.

Surviving are one son, Michael L. Ford and wife Tammy, Salem; one stepdaughter, Kathy Bell, Ashtabula, OH; three stepsons, Kenny Bell, Ashtabula, OH, Kelly Bell, Houston, TX, and Chris Bell, Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Joshua M. Ford, Tyler W. Ford and Kylie M. Ford; four stepgrandchildren; four sisters, Burnetta Hoskinson, Salem, Marjorie Overstreet, Austin, TX, Udora Keys, Bunkerhill, WV, and Velora Howerton, Annapolis, MD; one brother, Okey Ford, Richmond, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Forrest Glenn Ford and Jesse Ford, two sisters, Pauline Ash and Maxine “Mackie” Ford preceded him in death.

Mr. Ford was retired from Union Carbide as a laborer with 35 years service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. Homer was past president of the Doddridge County Senior Citizens. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed attending the Salem Apple Butter Festival. Homer was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem, on Friday, April 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Danny Fleming officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell with full military honors being accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 2, 2015, from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, C/O Mary Dolly, 186 Liberty St., Salem, WV 26426. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.harbertfuneralhome.com.
