JOSEPH M. GILMER
Joseph Marshall Gilmer, 65, of 1608 Harrisonville Ave., North Moreland, was pronounced dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
He had been ill with a heart ailment for 11 years.
Mr. Gilmer retired five years ago from the Western Union Telegraph Co., where he had been employed 40 years. He was a lineman.
Born on July 17, 1891, in Cambria, Va., he was a son of Charles Gilmer and Laura E. Clark Gilmer, both of whom preceded him in death.
Mr. Gilmer is survived by his wife, Bessie M. Lambert Gilmer; three sons, Charles Gilmer of Minford, Robert Gilmer, 2728 Gilbert Ave. and Williams Gilmer, 5956 Woodland Ave.; and a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Marie Bertram, 1629 Seventh St.
Also surviving are two brothers, Ben Gilmore of Cambria and Trigg Gilmore, of West Portsmouth; three sisters, Mrs. Loma Church of Cambria, Mrs. Florence Shrader, 1615 Grandview Ave., and Mrs.Fannie Weinmann, 1301 Center St.; six grandchildren.
Mr. Gilmer was a member of Central Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emrick Funeral Home. Rev. Clark Walters will officiate. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home.
