SIOUX CITY | Larry LeRoy Armstrong, 72, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Casa De Paz Nursing and Rehab.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at River Hills Assembly of God in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Kevin Roach officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Larry was born July 23, 1940, in Tekamah, Neb., the son of LeRoy and Cecelia (Ehlers) Armstrong. Larry lived in Nebraska most of his life. He graduated high school in 1958 from Schuyler High. He enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1969 as a pharmacy specialist. He worked at the Omaha Methodist Hospital in the finance department and at St. Luke’s in Sioux City as a patient account manager.

He loved boating and was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 25 years on the Missouri River and for a period of time was a Flotilla Commander. He loved to golf at Sun Valley Golf Course. He loved playing golf with Charley Pride and Neil McCoy when he worked at the Dakota County Fair. During his play he accomplished to get five holes-in-one.

Survivors include his wife, daughters, son, grandchildren, and his companion, Muffy.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Cecelia Armstrong; his brothers, Irvin and Lowell; and his first wife, Linda Armstrong.
