Maxine was raised in Eugene and Winchester Bay, OR. She graduated from Reedsport High School, class of 1954, and went on to attend Port Angeles Business College in Port Angeles, WA and Clatsop Community College in Astoria, OR.
She served in the United States Navy as a WAVE in Bainbridge, MD, School US Naval Base, San Diego, and Kingsville, TX, from November of 1954, to August, 1956. She also enjoyed 16 years as a Coast Guard wife.
She was married to Gerald Mobley Sr. on June 6, 1959, in Ellensburg, WA. After his passing, she married Donald V. Peek on July 1, 1986, in Svensen, OR.
She worked for the City of Astoria and also the US Forest Service National Rec. Area in Reedsport.
Maxine enjoyed volunteering at local food banks whereever she happened to be living at the time. She liked cooking, baking and canning. She also enjoyed reading, writing and spending time with family and friends.
She was an active member of the Reedsport Church of God, later the Roseburg Westside Christian Church. Clubs she enjoyed while living in Reedsport were the Smith River CASAD club, Reedsport Red Hat Society, Winchester Bay Coffee Hour, Former Winchester Bay Grange, Lunch Bunch (originally of Gardiner) and the Church of God in Lakeside bible study.
Maxine Edith Earls Peek, age 78, of Roseburg, OR, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015.
She is survived by her sons Brian Scott of Warrenton, Gerald Mobley of Warrenton, Michael Mobley of Astoria; daughter Tamara Mobley of Roseburg; and grandchildren Brian Doyle, Jonathan Doyle, Michael Doyle, Ashley Marks, Amber Murphy and Brian Scott Jr. , as well as four great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Westside Christian Church, 2712 W. Harvard Ave. Roseburg, OR.
Private Inurnment at Fort Stevens Cemetery.
