Marshfield—John W. Knoll, 56, Route 1, Arpin, died unexpectedly at 6:45 Sunday morning at the Wood County hospital where he had been employed for the last five years. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran church in Pittsville. with the Rev. Alvin M. Moog officiating. Burial will be in Mound cemetery and the body will lie at the Hansen Funeral home in Marshfield until Tuesday noon.
Mr. Knoll was born February 11, 1893 at Rudolph, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knoll, Wisconsin Rapids, who survive. He was married to Bernice Spengler who died in 1927, and married the second time to Rosella Dupee in 1932.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Knoll was a member of the Pittsville American Legion post. He had lived in Wisconsin Rapids, where he received his education, and in Marshfield. Survivors include his wife, a son by his first marriage, Byron Spengler, Beaver Dam; another son, Robert, 10, at home, and a step daughter, Mrs. Urban Zuehlke, Route 1, Arpin. The following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Ed Otto, Tomah; Mrs. John Hutkowski and Mrs. Peter Emmerson, Wisconsin Rapids, and Arthur Knoll, Port Edwards.
