Mrs. Sarah Pauline Rainey, 73, of Newnan, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 21, 2007. Mrs. Rainey had been in declining health following a stroke over a year ago. She was born on April 24, 1934 to Roy Jefferson and Lillian Clark Hinesley in Sargent, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and also by two brothers that died in infancy. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, George Eugene Rainey. She is also survived by her children, Don Rainey and his wife Sybil of Newnan and Harriett Ward and her husband Slade of Panama City Beach, Florida. Her grandchildren are Brad, Karen, Heather and Jennifer Rainey, all of Newnan; Chase and Cody Penny, Chris Ward, Roxanne Ward and Robin Cooper of Panama City Beach, Florida. Also surviving are her sisters, Alma H. Peek and Omogene H. Hardigree of Newnan and her family of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends including a dear friend since childhood, Mrs. Kitty Hendrix. Mrs. Rainey was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She worked for many years for the Newnan Housing Authority, and was also a loyal and devoted caseworker for the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services. Her retirement years were spent enjoying her family and being "Nanee" to her precious grandchildren. Retirement also meant time for camping trips to the beach and mountains with her husband. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan where the family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Floyd Tenney officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
