Bertha Annie Elliott, 89, of Rainycrest Home for Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002. She was born Nov. 9, 1912 in Iron River, Wis. to the late Francois and Nathalie Desrochers. Bertha moved with her family to Crozier, Ont. at the age of five. She operated the Elliott Brothers Hardware with her husband, George, and her brother-in-law until 1962. She also had been a cook for the Grey Nuns in Fort Frances. She was a member of the Redwing Rebekah Lodge, the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 Ladies Auxiliary, and Knox United Church. She enjoyed playing cards and also was a member of the birthday club. She enjoyed knitting and made baby outfits that she gave to the La Verendry Hospital Auxiliary for the Tuck Shop. Bertha was united in marriage Oct. 31, 1942 to George Elliott, who predeceased her Sept. 1, 1982.
