William Delmar Wallace was the oldest son of James W. and Nancy Elizabeth Dolinger Wallace. He was named after his paternal grandfather, William and paternal uncle William "Will". He had four brothers, Thomas Franklin, Walter Lee, James Wesley, and baby brother Jesse Marvin, who died at the age of 3. He had one sister Bertha Mae. He had lost his hearing due to having Spinal Meningitis at a young age. He outlived his parents, brothers and sister. He never married. He loved to read. He read every page of the newspaper. Also, he loved to read books and magazines. One really precious gift, in which he had saved during the time my dad was in the military, WORLD WAR 11, was dad's letters to him and my grandmother.
He was ready to help his mother and family in any way he could. Before my dad put water in their house and ours, Delmar carried water from the spring, on the other side of the mountain( a long distance, and water is very heavy). He also carried water to our home to help my dad, who was working long hours in the coal mine and to help my mother, even water to wash our clothes until my brother Marvin was old enough to carry it. He was a kind and gentle man.
