Jimmie E. Adams

Mrs. Arthur Bridegroom of Francesville received word last week of the death of her brother, Jimmie Eugene Adams, twenty-nine years old. A former resident of Brazil and recently retired from Military service, he died Tuesday night June 8, at the Veteran's Hospital at Danville, Ill.

Jimmie had entered the Air Force in 1957, and was serving in the A.F. Police near Alexandria, La., when he suddenly became ill last April. He was taken to the Kessler A.F.B. Hospital in Biloxi, Miss., where his illness was found to be permanent and probably incurable and, because of this, he was retired from service as Airman first class on May 8. On June 4 he was transferred to the hospital at Danville.

A son of the late Cassius and Grace (Ren) Adams, he was born March 29, 1936, at Winamac. When he was six years old, the family located in Brazil. In 1962 he was united in marriage to Miss Marie Fisher of Reelsville, who survives, along with four sisters, Mrs. Arthur Bridegroom of Francesville, Mrs. Melvin Brush of Carbon, Mrs. George Buchholz of Brazil, Mrs. Charles Schnurpel of Limestone, Me.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Clearview, west of Brazil. Attending the funeral from Francesville were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bridegroom, son Daniel and daughter Dale Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Beiswanger, Mr. and Mrs. Howard L. Manion, also Mr. and Mrs. James Freeman of Portage.

Jimmy enlisted twice in the U.S. Air Force, both tours were served in the United States. While stationed at England A. F. Base in Louisiana in the 834 AP Squad, his 2nd tour was cut short by a cancer diagnosis. From Kessler A. F. Hospital he was transferred to Danville, Ill. Hospital to be closer to his wife and family members; all of whom lived in Indiana.
