Wallace Stanley Baker, 79, Newstead Road, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his home of natural causes. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with the Revs. Melvin Felts and Denny Burchett officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight at the funeral home, and visitation Saturday will be from noon until time for the service. A native of Belton, he was born Dec. 3, 1928, the son of the late Guy Vivian and Sarah Ophelia Stanley Baker. He was retired from Bell South and was a member of the Communication Workers of America and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran and was a member of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Virginia G. Baker; two sons, Michael S. Baker, Clarksville, Tenn., Wallace Gregory Baker, Crofton; two daughters, Sarah Reid, Warrior, Ala., Melissa Sanders, Newark, Ohio; a sister, Wilma Baker Petty, Hopkinsville, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
