Robert J. Banker M.D., age 72, a resident of Manitowoc, died Monday morning, September 23, 1996, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 1996, at St. James Episcopal Church. Rev. David Klutterman will officiate with cremation to follow with interment of his cremated remains at St. James Episcopal Columbarium.

Dr. Banker was born June 13, 1924, at Akron, Ohio, son of the late Edward and Cecelia Walsh Banker. He grew up in Akron, Ohio, attending Georgetown Preparatory School, the Culver Military Acaemy, Holy Cross College, and graduating from Northwesten Medical School, Chicago. Dr. Banker was a Lt. in the United States Navy serving during World War II and the Koren Conflict. Dr. Banker moved to Manitowoc in 1954 and started his medical practice. He married the former Carol Pederson, September 9, 1982, at Elgin, Ill. He was a member of St. James Episcopal
Church, the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons and the American Urological Association and was past president of the Branch River Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Carol, Neenah; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Banker Jr. and his wife, Dianne, Midland, Va.; four daguthers and two sons-in-law, Barbara Banker, Lake Elmo, Minn., Judith Banker Sayler and her husband, John, Ann Arbor, Mich., Pam Banker, Madison, Lori Pitroski and her husband, Bill, Greenfield, Wis.; five grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Seiss and her husband, Edmund, Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church at the time of the service. There will be no visitation.
Memorials would be appreciated for Alzheimers Research.
