regarding his son John W Ingram
His father John, a native of Kentucky, removed to Missouri while yet young, and through his marriage with Alvira Smiley became connected with another good family. The father of Alvira removed from Virginia to Missouri in 1800, and 12 years later enlisted in the war of 1812, his valor gaining him the rank of Major. He was prominent in the early politics of the state, and at one time was a member of the territorial legislature. Four children were born to this union, John W was the youngest, and the only one living. The mother died in 1840, in MO and Mr Ingram married Susan Savage for his second wife.
