Manuel moved from Jimenez, Mexico or El Paso, TX when he was 16 and worked for a rancher in Eagar, AZ, Elifonsa's brother Nick introduced him to Elifonsa and they married in 1924. Manuel worked at the sawmill there for a number of years. Per Manuel Jr., two other children died as infants and are buried near the lake. When Manuel Jr. was in the 4th grade they moved to Salado, then they bought a house in St. Johns, AZ and he worked at the sawmill in McNary, Manuel Jr. attended the 5th grade in St. Johns, then he worked in Winslow than he worked back at the sawmill in McNary until he died. He married at St. Anthonys Catholic church in McNary, AZ
