Selma Shogren was born in Fahlun, Sweden, Jan. 8, 1866, and at death had reached the age of 56 years, 7 months and 11 days. When a child of four years, she immigrated with her parents and sister and brothers to the United States, coming immediately to Douglas county, where they settled in Belle River township. Here she was united in marriage in June 1886, to John E. Peterson, and Alexandria has ever since been her home. Of this union the following children were born: William Theodore of Arboga, Cal.; Clarence Alvin of this city; Richard Elsworth, who died in infancy; Alvina Violette McEwan of West Point, N. Y.; Mabel Aurelia Gordon of Shevlin; Eleanor Johnson of Arboga, Cal.; Myrtle Victoria and Arthur Hugo Peterson, at home.
Besides the children, Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband. She also leaves two brothers, Charles E. Shogren of Turloch, Cal., and August Anderson of Walker; one sister, Mrs. Charles Westman of this city.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon, Rev. g. A. Hanna officiating. Interment was made in Kinkead Cemetery.
