Charles Friedl, 71, a veteran of the Spanish-American war, died suddenly early today at the home of his sister, Mrs. O. J. Wilda, of 836 North Sixth street.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Pfeffer funeral home, the Rev. L. M. Schorn officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Friedl was born in this city in 1876. He enlisted in Company H of the Second Wisconsin infantry, which was called out in the Spanish-American war, and went to Puerto Rico with the regiment in 1898.

For many years he was a machinist at the Manitowoc Ship Building company, retiring in 1941.

He was a member of Camp Lawton, Spanish-American War Veterans, the Eagles, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are four brothers, John, Frank and Edwin of this city and George of Kenosha; three sisters, Mrs. Wilda and Mrs. Sophie Butler of this city and Mrs. John Reindl of Chicago.
