Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Beatrice Chaney of 1014 West Commerce St., Honey Grove were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, Jul 16, 1975, at the First Baptist Church, Windom. Rev Raymond Smoot, pastor of the church, officiated. Interment was made in the Windom Cemetery under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home.
Newphews served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Chaney died about 9:15 p.m. Monday, July 14, 1975 at Grave Manor Nursing Home, Honey Grove. She had been in ill health for many years and in the nursing home one year.
Jewel Beatrice Chaney was born in Windom, on September 13, 1900, the daughter of James Elliott and Minnie Mills Elliott.
She was married on July 24, 1926 at Nocona, Texas, to Joe Chaney.
She was a retired school teacher, a housewife, and a member of United Methodist Church in Windom.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Chaney, also a resident of Grove Manor; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Head, Abilene and Mrs. Bonnie Wigley Lubbock; one brother, Dewey Elliott, Longview and several nieces and nephews.
