AGED GRIGGS LADY DIES LAST MONDAY
Mrs. Anna Zingg, 96, Called At Walum; Funeral Held On Wednesday
Mrs. Anna Zingg, one of the oldest persons in Griggs county, died in Walum on Monday morning at 1 o’clock. Funeral services were conducted for her yesterday with Rev. I. O. Jacobson officitating. She was 96 years, 9 months and 24 days old at the time of her death.
Pall bearers for the funeral were Carl Nelson, John Overby, Nels Olson, Alfred Nelson, Edwin Everson and Henning Anderson.
Mrs. Anna Eliza Zingg was born on October 3, 1839 in Hessian, Germany and moved to Preston, Ont., while still a very young girl. On December 24, 1855, she was married to Samuel Zingg at Ayer, Ont. where they lived until 1881, at which time they moved to Sanborn. They went to Underwood and then to Steele, where Mr. Zingg died in 1921. Mrs. Zingg then moved to Walum and made her home with Mrs. Wogsland, her daughter, and four years later she took up her residence with her son, Frank Zingg, who is postmaster at Walum and another daughter, Mrs. Lena Schwegler. She also has another son and a daughter, John W. Zingg of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Alberta Snow of Ekalaka, Mont. Thirty-eight grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren survive her.
Relatives attending the funeral included Mrs. Alberta Snow, Mr. and Mrs. DeLos Hall and Mrs. Vern Silvas of Ekalaka, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Williams and son of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. John Bradshaw of superior, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. H. Siggelkow and Miss Florence Snell of Mandan; C. A. Brewster of Glendive, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Mitchell of Grand Forks; Mrs. A. Leik of Wimbledon; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Solenberger and N. Solenberger of Underwood and Arthur Kay of Sanborn.
