On the 1870 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., Virginia census, I found acting bank cashier R I White, 52, with $18K in real estate; Martha T White, 54; Ella White, 21; Mattie White, 19 and BLANCH White, 16, all Virginia born.
On the 1880 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., Virginia census, I found farmer Robert I White, 61; wife Martha T, 63; daughter daughter Ella, 32 and MARY B, 26, all Virginia born.
Mary was not a McCrum, per this obit: "DEATHS. Miss Mary Blanche McCrum (sic)* died at the home of her sister Mrs Barton McCrum on Main Street on Monday morning Feb. 22nd. She was born Oct. 22nd, 1853, and was thus in her 72 year. She was born in Lexington and spent virtually her entire life here. Her father was Capt. Robert I. White, she had two sisters, Miss Ella White, deceased and Mrs. Barton McCrum with whom she made her home. Miss White was a life long member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church and lived a very exemplar devoted Christian life, always living for her family, her friends and her church." Published in the Lexington Gazette, Vol 121, #8, dated 25 Feb 1925 (see photo).
Even the Washington and Lee University survey for this cemetery, used for this site (removed 2022) included her name as "Mary Blanche," 22 Oct 1853 - 23 (sic) Feb 1925.
